RM7.9B TVET boost to drive Malaysia’s skilled workforce
The government has allocated RM7.9 billion for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) under Budget 2026, showing a strong commitment to building a skilled and innovative workforce.
Howard Lee Chuan How, a member of the National TVET Council, said focusing on sectors like Artificial Intelligence, Electric Vehicles, and high-tech manufacturing will boost Malaysia’s competitiveness and shape the future of TVET. He called for local and international companies to partner in strengthening TVET by aligning curricula with industry needs and expanding training programs.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement also included a RM6 billion allocation for Bumiputera education, aiming to produce 2,000 Chartered Accountants and 10,000 tech specialists, including in areas like cybersecurity and AI.
