Road Angels demand justice for victims in nationwide protest

The Road Angels Association will stage a demonstration at noon outside courthouses across Bulgaria to demand accountability for traffic fatalities. The group seeks answers from law enforcement agencies, health officials, prosecutors and the justice system regarding preventable roadway deaths.

Organizers named the gathering Enough Silence in memory of Martin Dimitrov and other victims. The 23-year-old died during a collision involving three vehicles on the Zlatitsa-Chelopech roadway between Oct. 17 and Oct. 18. The association stated that parents, children and young adults perish daily in Bulgarian traffic accidents while government institutions remain unresponsive.

Participants plan to honor deceased motorists by lighting candles for young victims whose families continue grieving their losses. The group asked supporters through social media to remember those killed and demonstrate that their deaths warrant continued attention. Organizers questioned how many additional fatalities must occur before authorities establish meaningful reforms and ensure consequences for dangerous driving behaviors that cause repeated tragedies on national roads.
