Sofia tram routes change, new bus line starts today
Sofia residents face a modified tram service beginning on Friday as track maintenance forces five lines onto alternate paths through Nov. 29. Lines 1, 6, 11, 12, and 27 will follow detours around construction zones while a substitute bus route numbered 12TM connects Central Railway Station with Sofia Sever station during repairs.
Line 1 trams will travel from Nadezhda overpass along Knyaginya Maria Luiza Boulevard before resuming standard service toward Ivan Vazov neighborhood. Line 6 vehicles operate between Obelya-2 and Sofia Sever station. Line 11 connects the Knyazhevo district with Central Bus Station via modified turns through the Nadezhda underpass. Line 12 runs from Journalist Square through Central Railway Station to Ivan Vazov using portions of the Line 6 path. Line 27 operates shortened service ending at Nadezhda overpass.
The temporary bus line mirrors portions of affected tram routes, traveling along Yordan Hadzhikonstantinov-Jinot Street and Rozhen Boulevard before reaching Knyaginya Maria Luiza Boulevard. Return trips follow the boulevard with a turnaround near the central bus station entrance.
