Sciver-Brunt’s century lifts England to 253/9 in World Cup

England’s top order was rocked early, but captain Nat Sciver-Brunt’s fearless century saved them. After losing two wickets in the first 10 overs, they scraped to 50 in the powerplay. Sciver-Brunt anchored the innings as Sri Lanka’s bowlers, led by Inoka Ranaweera, kept striking.

Ranaweera’s 3/33 crushed England’s middle order while others like Kumari and Prabodhani added to the chaos.

With pressure mounting, Sciver-Brunt kept the runs flowing, eventually bringing up her century to push England to 253/9. Dismissed on the penultimate ball, she became the all-time ODI World Cup century leader with five.

England hopes it’s enough against Sri Lanka.
