Selangor allocates RM1 million for free flu shots after student death
The Selangor government has set aside RM1 million to offer free Influenza A vaccines to 12,500 students in high-risk areas: Hulu Langat, Gombak, Klang, and Petaling. This decision was made during the State Executive Council meeting, which also discussed the recent stabbing of a student in Bandar Utama and a storm in Telok Panglima Garang.
The vaccination program will begin next week, led by Jamaliah Jamaluddin. The move comes after the death of an eight-year-old student from Influenza A in Klang, where the child’s family also tested positive.
Following the stabbing incident, the state government will meet with parents, teachers, and students to support the community. Measures like metal detectors and CCTV will be implemented in schools to improve safety.
