Shankar Mahadevan mourns Piyush Pandey
Musician Shankar Mahadevan said he felt devastated by the death of advertising executive Piyush Pandey. Mahadevan described Pandey as a creative genius and close friend who brought humor and positive energy to their collaborations. The musician wrote on Instagram that each project they completed together became a landmark achievement in the industry.
Actor Gajraj Rao compared Pandey to General Sam Manekshaw and praised his ability to understand Indian society. Rao said the advertising professional maintained strong relationships with newcomers and established clients. He noted that Pandey possessed exceptional knowledge of rural India and approached creative challenges with courage.
Pandey died on Friday, October 24, at age 70 after battling an infection that worsened. The Padma Shri recipient served as Executive Chairman and Chief Creative Officer Worldwide at Ogilvy. The agency released a statement confirming his peaceful passing and expressing the profound loss felt by colleagues throughout the organization.
