Shekhar Kapur credits daughter Kaveri for dyslexia reveal
Shekhar Kapur revealed his daughter Kaveri helped him discover he is severely dyslexic. After Kaveri’s teacher doubted her claim of dyslexia, she took an online test, which showed she was mildly dyslexic—but the test results surprised Shekhar, showing he was severely dyslexic. He said this explained his lifelong struggle with forms and paperwork, and his panic when faced with them.
Despite his learning challenges, Shekhar became a Chartered Accountant and a filmmaker. He admitted that even during film shoots, he avoided reading schedules, yet still managed to finish on time. After accepting his dyslexia, Shekhar said he realized he had been finding ways to work around it, and believes some of his best creative moments happened not in spite of dyslexia, but because of it.
