Phone makers are extending battery life in premium models by using silicon-carbon cells, pushing limits on power capacity. A new report suggests one Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 device is being tested with a 9,000mAh battery. The model name remains unknown, but fitting that size into a flagship phone with advanced cameras and hardware would be a major step forward.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max currently leads with a 7,500mAh unit, though its endurance only slightly surpasses the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This points to the Snapdragon chip’s weak efficiency despite high speed. Realme has also experimented with a 15,000mAh concept phone. Industry observers expect a Chinese brand to confirm the 9,000mAh model once testing ends.
