Sofia mall stabbing – teen with rap sheet kills athlete, 5-year max sentence looms
A 15-year-old boy with multiple theft and robbery convictions fatally stabbed his peer at a Sofia shopping center on Sunday before fleeing through an emergency exit. Stefan Stefanov transported the unconscious victim to Pirogov Hospital after witnessing the aftermath, but the tenth-grade athlete died shortly after admission. Security camera footage revealed that the confrontation between Krasimir and Georgi escalated to murder within five seconds when Georgi produced a folding knife with a 10-centimeter blade and stabbed Krasimir in the heart.
Police detained the suspect that evening after he cooperated and revealed the weapon’s location. The accused faces charges but could receive a maximum five-year sentence because of his minor status. Authorities questioned 10 witnesses and determined that mall security could not have prevented the attack, given its rapid escalation.
