Sofia mayor strips chief architect of key powers
The Sofia Municipality announced that, effective immediately, the Chief Architect of Sofia has been stripped of delegated powers by order of the Mayor, citing a lack of trust and difficulties in administrative coordination. The Chief Architect will no longer act as a contracting authority under the Public Procurement Act, a responsibility that will shift to the Mayor when needed.
Oversight of municipal property transactions and property rights will remain the responsibility of Deputy Mayor Georgi Klisurski, who oversees finance and healthcare. Additionally, the Mayor will now handle submissions to the Municipal Council related to urban planning and changes to development plans. The municipality explained that these adjustments aim to improve consistency, strengthen institutional oversight, and enhance administrative efficiency within Sofia’s management.
