Son kills mother over refusal to buy alcohol in Karnataka
A shocking incident occurred in Bagalkot district, Karnataka, where a 28-year-old son, Venkatesh Girisagar, killed his 58-year-old mother, Shavakka, after she refused to give him money for alcohol. Venkatesh tied her hands and legs, gagged her with a cloth, and slit her throat. The two were living together in a rented house after the father’s death.
Venkatesh, a regular drinker, often argued with his mother for money. On Thursday night, after another argument, he attacked her and fled. Neighbors found the body and alerted the police, who later arrested Venkatesh at a bar. This follows several similar tragic incidents in the region, where sons have killed mothers over alcohol-related disputes.
