SpaceX Starship completes 11th test flight before Moon, Mars upgrades

Elon Musk’s SpaceX Starship completed its 11th test flight on Monday, marking the final test before launching a new version designed for Moon and Mars missions. The flight took off from SpaceX’s South Texas launch site at 6:25 pm local time, with the Super Heavy booster returning to the Gulf of Mexico after 7 minutes, while the Starship upper stage splashed down into the Indian Ocean.

SpaceX plans future tests with an upgraded Starship prototype, featuring essential improvements for long-duration space missions. Previous tests had failed, but August’s successful flight marked a turning point. The upgraded Starship will be part of NASA’s Artemis program, aiming to land humans on the Moon by 2027, although refueling still needs testing.
