Student fined for placing child figures to raise road safety awareness in Sofia
Andrey Dimitrov, a student, was fined 50 leva for placing life-size figures of children near a zebra crossing in Sofia where 15-year-old Filip died, as well as at four other dangerous crossings. Two of the figures were broken by vandals just one day after being placed.
The initiative, called “Sofia – a City for Children,” was organized by the youth group “RED Association,” who set up 10 life-size child figures. The campaign aims to raise awareness about road safety, improve accident prevention, and highlight the need for better road markings in Sofia.
Andrey Dimitrov explained that the figures were created to show how crucial road safety is and to remind everyone that drivers are responsible for the safety of children. He asked how many more children need to die before the institutions take real action.
