Svilenski says Radev backs Unruly Bulgaria over BSP
Georgi Svilenski from Unruly Bulgaria said President Rumen Radev appears to be signaling support for his party as an alternative to the current government. The former Bulgarian Socialist Party deputy parliamentary group chairman told reporters that his movement represents the only viable opposition untainted by cooperation with Boyko Borisov and Delyan Peevski.
The BSP joined the ruling coalition despite having no ministerial positions, while DPS-New Beginning secured appointments across all three governing parties, Svilenski noted. He criticized party leader Cornelia Ninova’s former colleagues for abandoning their democratic principles by tolerating the Borisov-Peevski alliance.
Bulgaria must request American authorities delay or cancel the Lukoil sanctions deadline, Svilenski argued. The government should activate its golden share to assume management control of the Burgas refinery while securing three months of fuel reserves as legally mandated.
Svilenski praised Radev for refusing official vehicles, contrasting the president’s modest approach with other officials’ practices. Neither he nor Ninova used government cars during their tenures as BSP leaders, he added.
