Borisov says reshaping government is Zhelyazkov’s job
GERB leader Boyko Borisov told reporters in Beloslav that Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov must handle cabinet reshuffles and remove underperforming ministers. Borisov said partnerships with DPS-New Beginning remain essential for government stability as Bulgaria prepares its first eurozone budget. Opposition parties have become consumed by internal matters and ignore strategic national priorities, he added.
Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova announced the 2026 budget draft will reach parliament by the month’s end. The proposal will satisfy Bulgarian law and European Union standards, though she declined to discuss spending restraints or economic projections. Preparation of the budget framework continues ahead of submission.
Borisov explained investment distribution reaches municipalities regardless of mayoral party affiliation. The politician said his approach ensures regional equity across Bulgaria. He declined to predict outcomes for potential Varna mayoral elections, stating courts will decide without political interference from his party.
