Swadeshi Diwali lights up Vadodara, locals reject Chinese goods

Despite the flood of Chinese goods, traditional items like clay lamps and diyas are still a hit in Vadodara, Gujarat. Buyers there swear by indigenous products, keeping the local potter community busy ahead of Diwali. While everyone else is flocking to Chinese imports, local traders selling clay diyas and decor are seeing major gains.

Prime Minister Modi’s push for Swadeshi products is giving a much-needed boost to small businesses. Local traders like Rakesh Prajapati are urging people to pick up a diya to support Indian artisans. Shoppers like Deepika Gohil are all in, buying local and ditching Chinese goods in favor of homegrown products, hoping it’ll create jobs and change the market.

Diwali, the festival of lights, symbolizes the triumph of good over evil. It’s a time for families to pray, celebrate, and light up their homes with diyas, all while embracing Indian traditions.
