Syria, Saudi Arabia warm ties in Riyadh
Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan on Tuesday in Riyadh to discuss bilateral cooperation and economic partnerships. Al-Sharaa arrived in Saudi Arabia to attend the ninth Future Investment Initiative conference, which continues through Thursday and attracts global leaders and ministers.
The officials explored collaboration opportunities in energy, industry, infrastructure and technology as Syria works toward economic stability, according to the Saudi Press Agency. Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani and Saudi Minister of State Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban participated in the discussions.
Al-Sharaa held separate talks with Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif about security matters and regional developments. The Syrian president also met Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih to address reconstruction partnerships and economic recovery efforts.
The conference launched in 2017 as a platform for Saudi Arabia to demonstrate its economic diversification plans under Vision 2030. Al-Sharaa plans to address attendees and meet with representatives of international investment firms about regional economic growth.
