Taliban hits back at Pakistan, kills 58 soldiers in deadly Durand Line clash

The Taliban’s top spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, dropped a bombshell Sunday, claiming Afghan forces wiped out 58 Pakistani soldiers and wounded 30 others in a brutal retaliation along the Durand Line. The operation, launched late Saturday, also destroyed 20 Pakistani security posts and seized tons of weapons. However, the fighting stopped at midnight after Saudi Arabia and Qatar begged for a ceasefire.

Mujahid also took aim at Pakistan, accusing it of harboring ISIS-K training camps in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He claimed these bases were behind recent attacks in Iran and Moscow, and demanded Pakistan hand over key ISIS-K figures.

Pakistan’s airstrikes on October 9 sparked outrage in Kabul, with the Taliban rejecting Islamabad’s plea for a delegation visit. Afghan officials made it clear: any violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty will be met with force. Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, issued a chilling warning to Pakistan—history shows aggression never ends well for invaders in Afghanistan.
