Tazaungdine festival draws crowds with market, shows and performances

Festival activities surrounding the Maravijaya Buddha Image entered their second day on Tuesday as crowds from Nay Pyi Taw and surrounding areas packed vendor stalls and entertainment venues at Maravijaya Buddha Park. More than 300 merchant booths displayed small business products, regional specialty items and ethnic cuisine alongside electric vehicles and traditional handicrafts from Mandalay, Magway and Ayeyawady. Merchants reported selling out their inventory of food items, locally manufactured goods and gemstone merchandise.

Theatrical performer Po Chit attracted substantial audiences with free performances blending percussion music and dance routines on modern stage installations. The production incorporated operatic numbers, comedy sketches and orchestral accompaniment that satisfied attendees. Nationally recognized vocalists also appeared with backing from two musical groups, drawing enthusiastic responses from spectators. Children accessed carnival rides such as Ferris wheels and pirate ships at designated play areas.

Programming continues through Nov. 4, allowing visitors to combine religious observances with market shopping and live performances during the Tazaungdine celebration period.
