Teachers’ admin overload threatens school safety in Malaysia
Rodziah Ismail, the MP for Ampang, said that teachers in Malaysia face a “hidden threat” to school safety. She explained that teachers have too many administrative tasks, which take away from their teaching and hurt their connections with students. Teachers have to fill out many digital reports, handle student discipline, and plan events. As a result, teachers have less time to focus on students, which weakens relationships.
Rodziah suggested that the Education Ministry simplify processes so teachers can focus on teaching. She also recommended creating a single digital system for reports. Additionally, she proposed giving schools more freedom and providing teachers with tools to make their work easier.
