The Outer Worlds 2 to deliver deeper RPG mechanics, player choice

Obsidian’s about to drop The Outer Worlds 2 in just over two weeks, and it’s shaping up to be a major RPG moment, following the early access release of Grounded 2 and Avowed this year. Game Director Brandon Adler recently sat down for an interview where he shared that this sequel will take everything up a notch—bigger worlds, more reactive gameplay, and, most importantly, a deeper RPG experience.

Adler knows RPG fans want more than just a streamlined game, saying players crave more complexity and options for customizing builds. He’s looking to bring back that classic Obsidian RPG feel, full of player choice and consequences, while keeping it modern. Fans of deep RPGs, like Baldur’s Gate 3, will likely appreciate the direction. The Outer Worlds 2 drops October 29 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S|X.
