Three Qatari officials killed in car crash near Sharm el-Sheikh before peace summit
Three members of Qatar’s Amiri Diwan were killed in a car crash on Sunday near Sharm el-Sheikh while heading to prepare for a peace summit aimed at finalizing the Gaza ceasefire. The officials, part of a protocol team, died when their vehicle overturned, leaving two others injured.
The Qatari Embassy in Cairo confirmed the deaths and expressed deep sorrow. The crash, about 50 kilometers from Sharm el-Sheikh, is thought to have been caused by the driver losing control on a curve.
Both injured officials are receiving medical care in Sharm el-Sheikh. The Qatari embassy thanked Egyptian authorities for their support and confirmed the bodies and injured officials would be returned to Doha.
