Traycho Traykov reports NSO car caused tram emergency stop
Sofia district mayor Traycho Traykov reported a tram incident near Slaveykov Square, where sudden braking caused passengers to fall after a National Security Service convoy manipulated traffic signals. The emergency stop occurred at the intersection with Georgi S. Rakovski Street when an NSO vehicle switched the light from green to red, allowing a jeep and Mercedes carrying government officials to pass through without delay.
Traykov stated the tram operator confirmed such interference happens regularly, prompting him to request formal correspondence to the Sofia Directorate of Interior, NSO, and the Traffic Analysis and Management Directorate. The mayor emphasized the need for immediate solutions to prevent future accidents, noting he experienced a similar though less dangerous situation earlier that morning with the same security convoy practices.
