Trump to decide on Israeli-Palestinian peace solution

US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he will decide on the long-term solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on what he believes is right. Speaking after a brief visit to the Middle East, where he joined regional leaders in signing a declaration for a Gaza ceasefire, Trump acknowledged differing opinions on whether a one-state or two-state solution is preferable.

He stated, “I will decide what I think is right, but I’d be in coordination with other states and other countries.” Around three-quarters of UN member states recognize the Palestinian state declared in 1988, but the US and Israel criticized recent decisions by countries like Britain and Canada to formally recognize Palestine.
