Trump to meet Putin in Budapest amid Ukraine war shifts

US President Donald Trump announced plans to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Hungary in the next two weeks after a productive phone call. Trump said the meeting would be their second summit since his return to power.

Trump also questioned Ukraine’s request for Tomahawk missiles, saying the US could not risk using up its own supply. The Kremlin welcomed the call, and Putin prepared for the summit.

Ukraine’s President Zelensky noted that the Tomahawk threat pushed Moscow to talk, and hoped Trump’s peace efforts in the Middle East could help end the war with Russia. Meanwhile, Russian attacks continued on Ukraine’s energy grid.
