Tungwarara defends Mnangagwa, denies succession rumors

Paul Tungwarara, an investment advisor to Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, declared at a Mutare event that divine will placed Mnangagwa in leadership. He firmly rejected persistent rumors about seeking the presidency himself, calling such talk groundless. Speaking Sunday during a government fund distribution ceremony, Tungwarara pledged absolute allegiance, stating he would resign immediately if Mnangagwa departed office. He emphasized his support for the president, both vice presidents, and the entire cabinet.

Tungwarara addressed crowds gathered at Moffat Hall Grounds, dismissing suggestions he plotted a takeover as absurd. Senior ruling party officials attended the function, which allocated money to groups aligned with Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 economic plan. Tungwarara has gained attention for his vocal backing of the president and his family’s visible affluence. His business, Prevail International Group, secured significant state contracts in recent years, strengthening his position among Mnangagwa’s close associates.
