Two Bank Rakyat officers deny bribery charges over loan applications

Two bank officers pleaded not guilty today in the Sessions Court to charges of accepting bribes totaling RM107,040 for helping process personal loans that exceeded customers’ eligibility limits. Syed Mohd Muhaimin, 42, was charged with receiving RM94,440 in cash deposits from Roshanizam Roslan for approving loans above the borrowing limits at Bank Rakyat’s Kepong Branch. These actions took place between April 4, 2023, and December 9, 2024.

Zayme Zanee Othman, 43, was also charged with receiving RM12,600 via online transfers from Mohd Farid Aswad Adzahar for similar loan applications at Bank Rakyat’s Serdang Raya Branch between September 8, 2022, and May 16, 2024. Both were granted bail and required to surrender their passports, report to MACC monthly, and not contact prosecution witnesses. The next case mention is set for November 17.
