Two witnesses testify in Dhaka court in Jobayed Hossain murder case
Two individuals testified in a Dhaka court regarding the fatal stabbing of Jagannath University student Jobayed Hossain, a member of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nizam Uddin recorded statements from university student Saikat Hossain and Wahidur Rahman, who is the maternal uncle of a student named Barsha.
Authorities say Jobayed, a postgraduate statistics student, was killed on a staircase in Old Dhaka’s Armanitola neighborhood while visiting to provide tutoring. Police attribute the killing to a romantic dispute involving Barsha, her boyfriend Mahir Rahman, and Fardeen Ahmed Aylan, all of whom gave confessional statements after being charged. Investigators determined that Barsha had previously been romantically linked to Mahir before becoming involved with Jobayed, then later told Mahir she no longer cared for the victim, prompting the pair to plan the murder.
