Uganda hosts 20th NAFISAT meeting to boost aviation connectivity
Mr. Fred K. Bamwesigye, Director General of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), opened the 20th NAFISAT Supervisory Board Meeting on October 14, 2025, at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala. The event, organized by UCAA, Air Traffic Navigation Services (ATNS), and ICAO-ESAF, gathered representatives from 14 NAFISAT States, along with officials from ATNS, IATA, and ICAO.
Bamwesigye highlighted Uganda’s pride in hosting the NAFISAT Maintenance and Management Centre at Entebbe International Airport, describing it as a hub for regional operational coordination. ICAO’s Harvey Gabriel Lekamisy noted NAFISAT’s role in improving communication networks using VSAT technology.
Over the next two days, discussions will focus on improving infrastructure, regional systems alignment, and enhancing connectivity. Bamwesigye emphasized the importance of capacity building and inclusivity to ensure all states benefit from progress.
