University of Zimbabwe opens Agro-Industrial Park to boost self-sufficiency

The University of Zimbabwe’s Agro-Industrial Park is revolutionizing the country’s education and industry sectors. Located just 10 kilometers from Harare, this innovative facility is setting a new standard for self-sufficiency and skills development under the Education 5.0 model. With a fully operational value chain, it produces stock feed, cooking oil, and soya meal, contributing directly to the economy while offering hands-on experience to students.

The park’s poultry operation, housing 60,000 birds with a capacity of 100,000 every 42 days, and its bread production from on-site sweet potatoes, showcase its scale. Students gain invaluable skills across various departments, equipping them with real-world experience for future careers. This integration of commercial productivity with academia aligns perfectly with Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030, positioning the nation for global competitiveness.
