Vassilev says budget pickpockets public purse
Assen Vassilev, the chairman of Continuing Change, stated that a large protest in the Triangle of Power demonstrated significant public dissatisfaction with the current government’s policies. He announced a further protest scheduled for Tuesday, linking it to the national budget debate and a perceived lack of justice in cases involving Blagomir Kotsev and Nikola Barbutov.
Vassilev explained that the protest aims to disrupt parliamentary committee proceedings, which were accelerated with an unusually short proposal submission deadline. He argued that this was the last opportunity to influence the budget for the better during its second reading.
He claimed the budget would effectively take 600 leva from every citizen, accusing the government of an outrageous rush to rob the Bulgarian people. Vassilev asserted that his party would oppose any budget involving theft, regardless of the currency it was denominated in. He encouraged all citizens opposed to the financial measures to sign a petition and attend the protest.
