Visepo village flourishes with transformative project’s impact on food security
Visepo Model Village in Mpherembe, Mzimba District, tells a story of change and hope. Five years ago, the community struggled, but now the Transform Project has brought growth and progress. The project, supported by the Royal Norwegian Embassy and Find Your Feet, has helped improve food security, nutrition, and entrepreneurship.
Rebecca Nkhata, a member of the local group, shares how children are doing better in school thanks to less hunger. With a maize sheller, the group has harvested 250 bags of maize, earning over 3 million kwacha.
The village headman, Israel Mithi, says the project has helped reduce malnutrition, with villagers now raising animals and growing food. Though progress has been made, experts warn that the fight against malnutrition continues and must be sustained.
