Youth in Mzimba demand equal access to programs under Gangata’s leadership

Some youths in Mzimba have asked Minister Alfred Gangata to ensure that young people in remote areas are included in government programs. Moses Nkhan, the Executive Director of Mzimba Youth Organization, said that recent programs mostly helped urban youth, leaving rural youths out.

Justice Nantchengwa, Programs Manager at Mzimba Institute for Development Communication Trust, agreed, saying that better funding for District Youth Offices would help bring programs to rural areas. Currently, these offices get only K14 million per year, which is not enough to support youth activities.

Youth leaders want the funding raised to K65 million annually, with more money going to fieldwork, monitoring, and program implementation. They hope this will ensure all youth, regardless of location, can benefit from government programs.
