VMRO slams Terziev over summer kindergarten fees
VMRO – Bulgarian National Movement rejected proposals from Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev and Education Minister Krasimir Valchev to charge families for kindergarten services during the summer months. Julian Angelov, who serves as administrative secretary for the nationalist organization, said government officials at municipal and national levels continue creating obstacles for Bulgarian households rather than addressing existing challenges.
Angelov noted that his party previously sponsored legislation eliminating kindergarten costs throughout the calendar year to help working parents amid the country’s severe population decline. The mayor and education minister claim summer charges would provide funding for preschool facilities, but their plan actually takes money from employed young Bulgarians, he said.
The policy targets educated families who contribute taxes while raising children, Angelov added. He characterized the proposal as shameful and described it as another attack on working Bulgarian parents.
