Westgate Group secures Marriott license, boosting Croatian tourism
Marriott International granted Split-based Westgate Group authorization to manage and operate properties within its premium lifestyle and select service categories, making the Croatian company among the first domestically owned firms to achieve such standing. The licensing decision follows the successful development of the AC Hotel by Marriott Split, housed within the 135-meter Dalmatia Tower and featuring 214 units with panoramic Adriatic vistas.
Westgate Group founder Josip Komar noted the recognition validates Croatian enterprises as capable partners for global hospitality brands while advancing the nation’s luxury tourism profile. Two additional collaborative ventures are progressing, including a boutique heritage property in revitalized Bacvice scheduled to welcome guests by spring 2026 and a luxury resort project designed to redefine coastal hospitality standards. The partnership creates specialized employment across hotel operations, office administration, and technology sectors throughout the region.
