Myanmar sports minister attends 13th International Sports Forum in Russia
Union Minister Jeng Phang Naw Taung led Myanmar’s delegation to Russia’s International Sports Forum in Samara, where officials from 16 nations examined athletic development strategies and international cooperation frameworks. The minister, who chairs the Myanmar Olympic Committee, participated in the Asian Cooperation Dialogue ministerial gathering focused on sports infrastructure, public engagement initiatives, and professional league advancement through 2030.
Bilateral discussions produced commitments from Belarus to deploy specialized trainers in athletics, shooting, and water sports beginning in 2026, while Kazakhstan offered coaching support for boxing and wrestling programs. Talks with Russian Deputy Minister Alexander Nikitian centered on formalizing cooperation agreements between the two countries’ sports ministries. The Myanmar contingent joined representatives from 51 countries examining youth athlete development, technological integration in sports, and preparations for regional competitions, including the Southeast Asian Games.
