Woman arrested for facilitating illegal entry of foreigners at KLIA
A 34-year-old Malaysian woman, suspected of facilitating the entry of foreigners through a special lane at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2, was arrested on October 15. She is a lounge supervisor at Kuala Lumpur Airport Hotel Sdn Bhd (KLAH) and allegedly helped six Indonesian passengers enter Malaysia without proper clearance.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman received payment for each passenger she brought through the immigration counter using a special lane facility slip. The activity is believed to have occurred without her employer’s knowledge while she was on leave.
Further investigations found the involvement of other individuals, including employees from KLAH and FTCO Consultancy Sdn Bhd, who used similar methods to facilitate the entry of foreigners. The operation is believed to have been running for over a year, involving individuals from several countries.
The woman was arrested under Section 26A of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 and is being held for further investigation. Six Indonesian citizens were also arrested and sent to the Putrajaya immigration detention depot.
