Youth club clings to Alguacil as Roshan League woes mount
Saudi club Al-Shabab is sticking with Spanish coach Emmanuel Alguacil, despite a rocky start to the 2025-2026 Roshan Professional League season. The board met with Alguacil to dig into the poor results and spot weak points, with both sides agreeing that a lack of chemistry and injuries, not coaching, are dragging the team down. Management says Alguacil needs more time to shape his tactics and get new players on the same page, promising that results will turn around as the squad settles.
Alguacil’s contract runs through summer 2027, as part of a plan to rebuild the team and return to the top. Al-Shabab sits twelfth in the league with four points from four matches, but made the Round of 16 in the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup and earned a draw against Oman’s Al-Nahda in the Arab Gulf Clubs Cup.
