Yunus joins Lula to launch Global Alliance office in Rome
Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu opened the new office of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty at the FAO headquarters in Rome on Monday.
Brazil and Bangladesh co-founded the Global Alliance, a vision proposed by President Lula nearly ten years ago. The leaders highlighted the importance of global cooperation in fighting hunger, especially as famines affect Gaza and Sudan, and over 300 million people face food insecurity.
Prof Yunus, President Lula, and Qu emphasized the need for urgent action and coordinated efforts to combat hunger and poverty. The event was attended by several Brazilian ministers and key Bangladeshi advisers.
