ZANU-PF kicks off conference with Politburo meeting
The ZANU PF 22nd Annual National People’s Conference kicks off today with a Politburo meeting in Harare, marking the start of the party’s key political event, which will conclude in Mutare later this week. President Mnangagwa, the party’s First Secretary, is leading the gathering, with the Central Committee meeting set for tomorrow before delegates head to Mutare for the main conference from Friday to Saturday.
ZANU PF spokesperson Cde Chris Mutsvangwa confirmed the schedule, including the President’s activities, such as commissioning new facilities and leading a national tree-planting initiative. The conference will focus on economic, social, and political issues, alongside government work and development priorities.
Cde Farai Marapira noted the conference helps assess the party’s progress and plan for the year ahead. ZANU PF National Chairman Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri confirmed preparations exceeded expectations, with nearly US$4 million raised for the event. Leftover funds will be donated to charity.
