Zimbabwe approves National AI Strategy to drive digital transformation
Zimbabwe is making waves with its new National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (2026–2030), aiming to place the country at the cutting edge of digital transformation. Cabinet approved the plan, which focuses on AI’s economic potential while managing its disruptive impact. Information Minister Dr Jenfan Muswere revealed the ambitious strategy, which aligns with Zimbabwe’s ICT Architecture and National ICT Policy.
The five-year roadmap prioritizes AI talent, infrastructure, adoption, research, and international partnerships. Key initiatives include a national AI competition, a data platform for research, and an AI literacy campaign. New bodies will ensure governance, while a fund will support AI startups. Zimbabwe aims to balance innovation with ethics, using AI for growth and sustainable development.
