Zimbabwe partners with China to boost tobacco production
Zimbabwe is working with China to grow tobacco production to 500 million kilograms using sustainable methods. This effort aims to balance economic growth with environmental care. The focus is on eco-friendly farming, efficient processing, and innovative marketing to help farmers and meet sustainability goals.
The Zimbabwe-China Tobacco Expo 2025 in Harare highlighted this partnership. The event brought together experts from both countries and other African nations to share ideas and strengthen ties. Minister Dr. Anxious Masuka emphasized the importance of China for Zimbabwe’s tobacco market, which is key to rural development.
The expo also discussed new technologies, like energy-efficient curing methods and reducing child labor. Officials hope to improve tobacco production while reducing environmental harm.
