260 Days storms cinemas, fans pack every seat
A new Croatian film, 260 DAYS, is generating significant public interest, with cinemas reporting nearly sold-out screenings across the country. Directed by Jakov and Dominik Sedlar, the project was completed without state financial assistance, relying instead on private contributions and the efforts of producer Alexander Hrkac.
The film tells the true story of Marijan Gubina’s childhood in Serbian captivity during the Croatian War of Independence. It features an international cast including Tim Roth and Armand Assante. Shooting occurred over 33 days in the Slavonia region, with post-production finalized in Hollywood and a musical score composed by Academy Award winner Anne Dudley.
Audience reactions have been highly emotional, with reports of prolonged applause following screenings. The filmmakers expressed their goal of presenting a Croatian narrative with the production quality of a major international film, focusing on themes of survival and forgiveness rather than revenge.
