50 BRAC University students selected for 2025 Millennium Fellowship
A record number of undergraduate participants from a Dhaka institution will join an international development program focused on advancing global sustainability objectives through campus-based initiatives.
Fifty students from BRAC University earned spots in the 2025 Millennium Fellowship, marking the largest delegation since the institution first participated in 2021 with 14 participants. The semester-long program operated by United Nations Academic Impact and Millennium Campus Network selected approximately 4,000 fellows from more than 290 universities worldwide after receiving applications from 7,500 campuses across 160 nations. Only 4 percent of applicant institutions received approval to host fellows this year.
Campus organizers held a ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 15, recognizing the selected students who will receive guidance from the Social Impact Lab at the School of General Education. Participants plan projects addressing climate adaptation, digital literacy, reproductive wellness, cancer prevention, educational access, food security, farming practices and civic involvement. These efforts align with multiple United Nations development targets related to health, education, gender equality, economic opportunity, infrastructure innovation, environmental protection, institutional strength and international cooperation. Previous cohorts from the university numbered 22 fellows in 2022 and 26 in 2024.
