Pinaki claims interim government plans to hold election, referendum together

A digital commentator has suggested that Bangladesh’s caretaker administration plans to schedule parliamentary voting and a constitutional referendum for the same date, while predicting departures from the advisory team.

Pinaki Bhattacharya stated through his verified social media account on Monday that two advisers with student backgrounds will leave their positions before polling occurs in December. He suggested that Jamaat-e-Islami will oppose both electoral processes and questioned whether the administration can maintain its stance. Bhattacharya warned of approaching political confrontation and described the circumstances as highly complicated.

The advisory council currently includes Asif Mahmud and Mahfuz Alam as representatives from student movements. Nahid Islam previously resigned from the council and leads the National Citizen Party political organization. Bhattacharya indicated that a formal announcement of simultaneous elections and a referendum would occur during a briefing.
