6 in 10 Bangladeshis can’t afford food amid crisis

Most people in Bangladesh are struggling to afford daily expenses, with many cutting back on food due to the economic crisis and inflation. Inflation reached 14.01% before the July uprising, and 3 out of 10 households couldn’t buy enough food. This has worsened, with 6 out of 10 low-income families now facing similar difficulties. The rise in prices continues, and many people are using savings or selling assets to cope. Food inflation remains above 10%, and people have less money for essential needs like healthcare. Experts say the government must pass a “Food Rights Act” to address food insecurity and ensure better distribution.
