Afif claims first-class hat-trick in stunning spell
Afif Hossain took three wickets in three balls to complete his first hat-trick in first-class cricket while playing for Khulna Division against Barishal Division on Sunday. The 26-year-old all-rounder dismissed Shamsul Islam Anik, Yasir Arafat Mishu and Ruyel Mia with consecutive leg-before-wicket decisions in the 42nd over at Khulna Divisional Stadium.
Afif finished with six wickets for 21 runs in 10.5 overs as Barishal collapsed to 126 in reply to Khulna’s 313. He became the 19th Bangladesh bowler to achieve a hat-trick in the format.
The left-hander had earlier made a first-ball duck with the bat. His previous best bowling figures were seven for 66 against Rajshahi in 2018.
Khulna enforced the follow-on after dismissing Barishal cheaply. Barishal batted again as play continued.
