Ahmedabad to host 2030 Commonwealth Games after board recommendation
Ahmedabad has been recommended as the host city for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, ahead of Abuja, Nigeria. The recommendation follows a detailed evaluation of cities based on criteria like infrastructure, athlete experience, and governance. The final decision will be made at the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly in Glasgow on November 26, 2025.
If approved, Ahmedabad will become the second Indian city, after New Delhi in 2010, to host the Games. The proposal highlights India’s commitment to Commonwealth values and its capacity to host a large-scale event. Nigeria’s bid for future Commonwealth Games, including 2034, will also be supported. The 2030 Games will mark the centenary of the event’s inaugural edition in 1930.
