Second police constable killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa polio campaign attack
A police constable, Maqsood (35), was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Kaahi area of Nizampur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Wednesday. He was deployed to protect a polio vaccination team. This marks the second such incident in three days, as another constable was killed in the Swat district on Tuesday while guarding the polio team.
The attackers fled after both incidents, and authorities have launched search operations to catch them. Polio workers, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, have been frequent targets of attacks. Despite efforts, polio eradication in Pakistan faces challenges like security concerns and misinformation.
