Amit Shah declares Abujhmarh, North Bastar Naxal-free

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on X that Abujhmarh and North Bastar in Chhattisgarh are now officially free from Naxal terror, marking a significant victory in the fight against left-wing extremism. This milestone supports the Modi government’s goal of eradicating Naxalism by March 31, 2026.

Shah highlighted the transformation of these areas, once strongholds of Maoist insurgents, and assured that remaining Naxal pockets in South Bastar would soon be eliminated. He also shared key statistics: 2,100 Naxalites surrendered, 1,785 were arrested, and 477 neutralized in encounters.

The success is attributed to enhanced intelligence, fortified border operations, and a government surrender policy. With ongoing development efforts in the region, the focus is now on sustainable peacebuilding, ensuring these areas thrive after years of insurgency.
